The Wet Weather Doesn't Dampen The Colts Winning Spirit's........

I could not risk getting my note-book wet so this week's report was put-together from behind the wind-screen wipers (poor excuse I know)

Combe got off to another lightning start with George opening the scoring after just 2 minutes however a determined Mere replied swiftly with an equaliser within minutes, the pace was fast & furious but 10 minutes in and Ryan takes advantage of a re-bound and scores a well deserved goal to put us back ahead.

Mere broke quickly and sped towards Jordan catching our defense by surprise however Ellis came to the rescue with a fantastic sprint and well timed tackle stopping Mere's threat on goal the action continued end to end with Mere's next attack being stopped by Jordan's quick thinking by sprinting to the edge of his area to secure the ball.

20 minutes played and Charlie sends a free-kick into the danger area which Lewis beautifully controls and places firmly in the net only to find to our astonishment that it was disallowed for offside.  Combe respond in the best possible way with Charlie scoring within 2 minutes to take Combe 3-1 up at half time.

5 minutes into the second half and Charlie scores his second following some great play from both the Aaron's on opposite wings, Mere reply quickly again taking the score to 4-2. Halfway through the second half Joe broke through the Mere defence with just the goaly to beat after a very focused and calm strike Joe takes the score to 5-2.

Moment's later George set off on an amazing run taking the ball around three defenders and places a great ball in the net can it get much better? yes it can 5 minutes left to play and George is off again this time scoring a cracker into the left hand top corner giving the strong Mere keeper no chance and giving George his hat-trick and finishing the game 7-2.

A great result in tough conditions against a very determined Mere FC.
