Under 9 CCCFC 4 - 0 Derry Hill United FC Print
Season 09/10 - Under 9

Under 9's went top of the Green Division with a professional performance, in their first home fixture on a glorious Saturday morning at Castle Combe sportsfield. Derry Hill got off to a bright start but the boys soon stamped their authority on the proceedings and in the 10th minute, Player of the Month Matthew, opened the scoring with a good turn and finish inside the penalty box. On the stroke of half time, a cross-come shot from Luca found the bottom corner and Colts took a 2-0 lead into the interval. The lads came out fired-up for the second half and within a minute made it 3, when a beautiful first time lay-off from James sent Luca clear and his cross was economically despatched by Matthew. Luca, revelling in his favourite role out on the right side of midfield, saw plenty of the ball and showed touches of class and vision before Co-Manager Louie made wholesale changes. Alex, Luca and James were replaced by Dan, Joseph and Jacob but it was 'keeper Alec who was called on in the 30th minute to make a low save at the nearpost to deny Derry Hill a lifeline. A minute later, Jacob beat 2 players on the halfway line and looked to be heading for goal only to be denied with a last ditch tackle . However, on 33, a lung bursting run from Jimmy in midfield released Joseph wide on the right, who looked up and his pinpoint cross was met first time by Matthew to complete his hatrick. An important save by Alec, from Derry Hill's Ashley on 38, made sure that Colts continued their impressive defensive record. The match was played in a fantastic spirit and was superbly officiated by the referee, who allowed the game to flow at every opportunity.

MoM - Joshua, made vital interceptions to ensure the team kept a clean sheet and played a crucial role in setpieces from corners.
