Season 09/10 - Under 11 White

Colts victorious in a fine game between good sides

A quick goal from the visitors had the Colts shocked and it required stout defence to keep the visitors at bay in the first five minutes.  Tom was having a busier time in goal than anticipated.  Having weathered the storm, colt’s midfield began to exert control and with the passing game beginning to flow despite the length of the grass, Lewis was rewarded for his efforts with the equaliser in the 11th minute.  Fin and Joseph were pushing high on the wings and continued colts pressure saw the Dilton keeper produce a number of saves from the attacking Aaron M and Aaron C before Joseph got his long deserved first goal of the season.  Dilton immediately equalised from the restart to leave the game 2-2 at half time.

The second half saw the colts take the game to Dilton.  A free kick led to a contender for goal of the season.  George took the kick, sending it across field to an unmarked Joseph who took it down the line and passed it in to Joe. He took the ball to the goal line and cut it back perfectly into the path of Charlie for the knock in. More pressure from Colts resulted in a number of chances for George who finally overcame the excellent Dilton keeper to make it 4-2.  Aaron C added a fifth when his goal bound shot was deflected into the net by an unfortunate defender. Alex was able to push up a little more and saw a long half-volley swing just wide of the post.  However, Dilton continued making surging runs into the Colts defence, and Ellis was strong and controlled at left back while Adam and Ryan were a solid central defensive pairing.  Dilton brought the score back to 5-3 before Charlie finished the scoring with a second goal to finish the game 6-3.
