Season 09/10 - Under 9

Under 9's faced their toughest League match to date on Saturday but came away with a 2-0 win and the 3 points they needed to secure top spot in the Green Division. After some initial fine pass and movement from Jimmy, Luca, Matthew and James, the boys struggled to get to grips with Derry Hill's formation and huffed and puffed for the opening 10 minutes until Matthew broke the deadlock, with a precise finish. Not for the first time this season though, the team can thank the excellent partnership in defence of Alex and Joshua G, who helped keep the hosts at bay and scoreline 1-0, heading into the break. Alex made way for Charlie and he was straight into action with some crucial interceptions while Eddie, who replaced James at halftime, worked tirelessly to help the midfield, as DHU piled on the pressure. However, on 25', Jimmy fed Luca out wide and the number 10 cut inside to smash an unstoppable drive into the far bottom corner to give the Colts a 2-goal cushion. As the League leaders came under intense pressure, Jacob replaced Jimmy in a tactical switch but cometh the hour, cometh the man and the second half belonged to Sebastian with a virtuso performance between the sticks. In the 30th minute he showed bravery beyond the call of duty, when diving at the feet of Derry Hill's Ashley and combined with excellent distribution from the back and reflex saves he ensured the Under 9's superb defensive record remained intact.

MoM -   Sebastian, due to a collective off-day from the team, the Colts number 1 saw more of the action than usual but was finally given the chance  to demonstrate his potential as a top-class keeper and didn't disappoint.
