U9 CCCFC 3 v 2 Trowbridge Town Print
Season 09/10 - Under 9

Colts got back to winning ways with a pleasing victory at home to Trowbridge on Saturday. The manager continued his policy of squad rotation, which included a debut for one player and saw an attacking line up with Dan and Joseph providing the holding roles in midfield, allowing Matthew to linkup with James and Eddie in attack. In the 3rd minute, skipper Matthew raced through 3 challenges and finished just wide, while from a Joseph corner, James' effort found the side netting. On 11', Colts finally got the breakthrough, when James fed Eddie, who rounded the Trowbridge defender and buried his shot into the bottom corner and 3 minute later, they doubled the lead after more good work from Matthew and James combining with Eddie for him to finish clinically. Trowbridge reduced the deficit just before halftime despite some great saves from Sebastian in goal but the boys went into the break with a deserved 2-1 lead. Sebastian was alert again on 22', to dive bravely at the feet of the onrushing Town forward but they pulled level after the break, given the Colts 'keeper no chance after some sloppy defending in midfield. Driven on by their inspirational captain, it was only fitting that Matthew should grab, what turned out to be the winning goal on 23 minutes, when put through by Joseph. Dan moved back into defence alongside the impressive Alex, while Jay went agonisingly close 4 minutes time to putting the seal on a much improved display.

MoM. Alex, some fantastic tackles to breakup the Trowbridge attacks and superb passing from the back to set up counter attacks.
