U9 CCCFC 1 - 1 Melksham Town Saints Print
Season 09/10 - Under 9

U9's finished off their first season in Division 1 with a deserved draw away to a strong Melksham side on Saturday. Both teams found chances few and far between in a game dominated by 2 strong defences, Joshua and Alex both shining for the the Visitors and Jimmy and Matthew working tirelessly in midfield. Jay and James came on in the 10th minute but Colts had to wait 'til the stroke of halftime for their first real chance when Jay intercepted a throughball and fed Eddie who shook off his marker and fired just wide. Sebastian in goal, again, showed comfortable handling and thrawted any Melksham attack, 0-0 at the break. On 32', a lapse in concentration from a cross caught Colts napping and Melksham took the lead. This team has showed great character and determination this Season and when skipper Matthew hooked the ball into the path of Eddie 3 minutes later, U9's top scorer, finished with aplomb into the top corner. It was a just reward for Eddie who proved a thorn in the Home teams side all match and showed great movement off the ball. The game opened up in the last few minutes with both sides creating good attacking situations but all-in-all, it was a well fought match and a point each was a fair reflection. The boys have had a big say as to who wins the League this Season and have showed that they have the ability to mix it with some very strong Clubs, taking vital points off FC Chippenham and Saints.

MoM- Jay. Came on to replace Alex in defence and after a shaky opening couple of minutes, he marshalled the Home sides Centreforward superbly.
