U9 FC Chippenham 2 - 3 CCCFC Print
Season 09/10 - Under 9

U9's made it 2 wins in 4 days in a thrilling match at Stanley Park on Tuesday evening. Colts got off to a flyer, when after only 3 minutes Tom latched onto a loose ball in the area to score his first goal. 5 minutes later, Jamie in only his second game, ran onto a long ball from 'keeper Alec and finished with aplomb. Straight from the kickoff almost a lack of concentration allowed FC Chippenham to pull a goal back but Colts were still creating good openings and from another mazy run from wing-wizard Tom, Charlie nearly restored the Visitor's 2 goal cushion, firing just wide.It was end-to-end stuff and on the stroke of halftime a fierce Chippenham strike produced a brilliant tip over from Alec. From the resulting corner, skipper Dan, was alert to make a goal line clearance and ensure the boys took a narrow lead into the break. The home side started well and drew level a minute into the second half and the last 20 minutes saw a pulsating match, played from one goalmouth to the other. On 27', Alec made another great save and with Josh B battling hard in defence, Colts were keeping the Home team at bay. 5 minutes from time, a short corner to Dan saw his effort palmed wide by Henry in the FC goal and from the following set piece, a Dan centre was turned into his own net by a FC defender, under great pressure from Charlie. There was still plenty of time for an equaliser though and Josh had his hands full marking the lively FC forward but the boys held on for a 3-2 win, in an entertaining and even-matched contest.

MoM. Dan- inspired Captain's performance in defence, leading by example and setting up the winning goal.
