U9 Whites- FC Chippenham Tournament Print
Season 09/10 - Under 9

U9's played their first tournament of the Summer at Stanley Park on Sunday and while preparation wasn't ideal, they acquited themselves extremely well in the circumstances. With no time to warm-up,  Colts struggled to find any pattern in their play in the opening fixtures, drawing 0-0 twice. Jimmy scored the winner against Henbury with a left foot drive after a neat interchange with Eddie in a 1-0 win and Corsham B were despatched by a brace from Eddie in the last group game, as gradually, the lads found their rhythmn. Henbury topped the group though on goal difference, setting up a mouth-watering quarter final with FC Chippenham, which the team won 1-0 , thanks again to a smart finish from Eddie. Corsham A were our opponents in the semi-final, and again Colts came through with a powerful header from skipper Matthew. The boys in black and white were defending superbly with 'keeper Sebastian, Alex and Joseph becoming the unbreachable backline. In the final we played a strong team from Quedgeley and U9's, for once, were on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline, with almost the last kick of the match. The agegroup can be hugely proud of their achievements as having no substitutes, the lads ran themselves into the ground and deserved their Finalists medals for sheer effort alone.

Player of the Tournament- Jimmy, put his foot in and covered every blade of grass throughout the day.
Song of the Tournament- Cher's "If I could turn back time" for the QF match.
