U9's Blacks started their Summer campaign on Sunday at Stanley Park and were unfortunate to come up against eventual winners, Quedgeley(A) in their opening match. The boys put up a stout performance but eventually went down 2-0. The second game against the host's B team saw the Colts find their feet and Josh F was unfortunate not to score after a great run and cross from James. The hosts scored to break the deadlock and win 1-0. Next up, Worton and Cheverell and again a spirited performance with great defending from Tom and Josh B who defended resolutely but were unable to keep out the Worton attack, who went on to win 2-0. The final match against Lambourn saw Colts give 2 early goals away but recover to get back into the match with a stirring display. Josh B made some great saves in goal and Charlie and Jacob continually threatened the opposition, as the lads tried desperately to get back in the game. It was a pleasure coaching the players who with only 6 players and no recognised 'keeper, rolled their sleeves up, never let their heads drop and gave a maximum effort.
