Season 12/13 - Under 10 Black & White

Simply a stunning performance and result. The best performance this side have put together. Every player gave 100% and got their just result.

The first half ended goalless, but slightly having the better of that half gave us an inkling of what might be possible. We started to believe and our confidence grew. In fairness to the opposition they had their chances in the first half, but our defensive players and goalie kept them at bay. Despite playing slightly uphill for the second period, and the opposition spending much more of the match in our half, it became a very open game. And we wanted it more!

Some of our passing was outstanding, and the inter play and understanding between players was just fantastic to watch. The lads are really beginning to understand their roles and positions within the side, and as importantly their team mates roles within the side. Three fantastic second half goals, to one conceded was a brilliant team effort.
Each player deserves a special mention after a game like that:
Daniel Wickens scored two goals that were both sharp and true center forward goals, scored by someone who knows what they are doing. His running past defenders was a joy. Belief is everything and Dan showed it in abundance today.
Joe's ability to pick out players is really becoming very special, taking the ball right to the goal line and making the cross which he did so on at least a half dozen occasions, thus creating the chance for a goal, and scoring a very classy goal in his own right. Daryl was equally adept at taking people on and running past them. His tackling and defense today was brilliant, and his 'never say die' attitude is spreading. Jude had the game of his life. Taking on a new role, he played as though it had been his for years. His best game in Castle Combe colours. He never stopped and continually pushed the ball through to Dan. Dan Nixon contribution was equally impressive, making a real nuisance of himself and disrupting the opposition play, as well as threading some important balls to the forwards.
I dont think I saw a single ball pass Ben today in his defensive role. It was a fantastic performance, with power and accuracy, his half way line shot on goal was something to behold, not many have the power to create a goal from that area of the pitch! Well done. Alex continually drove their attackers to the side line as part of his defensive duties. Continually clearing the ball from our goal area, his powerful kicks up field were strong and often blocking shots. A very important contribution. Josh and Henry both took turns in goal. Both made important saves which meant the opposition did not gain in confidence. I have as of yet, to see any team in our league with better goal keepers. Both played in defense when not in goal. Very little passed Josh, and if it did, it was not long before he retook control. Henry provided a last line of defense today, cleaning up and snuffing out any attempt on our goal, a solid performance.

What a performance, you should be very proud of that game, you all deserve a huge amount of praise.
My man of the match goes to Jude, for those who watched the match will know why!
