Match report v Blunsdon ( home) Print

CCCFC U11s v Blunsdon (home) on 16 October 2016

Colts went behind after numerous shots on the Blunsdon goal ( straight at the keeper!) with the opposition's first shot on target. After, Joel went on a dribble and score brilliantly. Then sloppy defending in the middle and pushing up at the wrong time led to Blunsdon scoring a second before half time.
In the second half another lapse and lack of shape led to Blunsdon's third. This was despite Cole, Seb, Kwaku and Matty all contributing well to defence. However Joel went on another incredible run to find the net. Then a Freddie mazy dribble led to a cracking top right corner shot from Joel for his hat trick.
Despite numerous chances from James, Will, Sam,Nick and Freddie, all hitting the woodwork or side netting towards the end, and a penalty miss right before the final whistle, The Colts couldn't quite get a fourth goal. Nevertheless it needed Kwaku making a superb last ditch tackle too. Another superb game though!
Positives:
1. Coming back from another losing situation- it shows the real character and energy of the team.
2. Creating numerous chances, with clever passing and movement.
3. Greater willingness to press the opposition.
Things to work on;
1. Defending in our set positions when we lose the ball to ensure the opposition don't get time to make easy passes to their striker(s).
2. One defender dropping off while the other marks to ensure we don't have 1v1 situations on our goal. Don't always try to play offside!
3. Shooting and finishing!
