U8 Stripes first league game

Castle Combe U8 Stripes had their first official league match on Sunday. The team consisted of 11 energetic and keen kids, who turned up to play Bishop Canning. In tow were so many family and friends, who came along to cheer the Stripes on and relentlessly cheered for the full 40 minutes.

Bishop Canning played great as well and they also brought a significant bunch of friendly supporters. This, in the lovely spring sunshine, gave the children their first taste of competitive football.

We were so proud of each one of them, they put 100% in to the game, they worked as a team and had a great time doing it. Thomas Pascoe stood out in the match, as he could be seen tearing around the pitch, not afraid to tackle and even did a great stint in goal – Thomas was our well deserved player of the match!

From the friendly opponents, encouraging supporters, great referee, these children got a taste of why football is our nations favourite sport.

A big thank you to everyone who has helped get us to our first match! We look forward to the next.
