Young footballers hail-ed as 2014 Castle Combe Colts tournament kicks-off Print

An electrical storm which brought hailstones the size of footballs and thunder and lightning to Castle Combe Sportsfield could not stop hundreds of young footballers from strutting their stuff on the opening day of the Colts’ annual tournament.

tournament4Biblical conditions battered the brave under-7s and 8s as they completed their festival of football and halted proceedings for around 30 minutes.
Mercifully, the weather improved as teams representing a host of clubs from the area contested the even-numbered age groups in the afternoon.
The action resumes with the odd-numbered age groups on Sunday, with the under-9s and 11s kicking off another fun-filled football feast at 9am.
