U7: CCCFC v FC Chippenham Youth Print
Season 10/11 - Under 7
An excellent couple of friendly fixtures with a strong FC Chippenham Youth outfit saw the under-7s back in match action for the first time in two months.
Resplendent in their new kit, kindly sponsored by Sharland Roofing Ltd – a Swindon-based company owned by Max’s dad Jerry Pearce - half of the squad took on FC’s Lions team with the rest facing the Tigers.
The games were switched at the 11th hour from a waterlogged Stanley Park to Combe, where the pitch was in fantastic condition despite last week’s rain.
An exciting contest with the Lions began the morning’s proceedings and saw Matthew R help himself to a couple of superb solo efforts. Bradley joined him on the scoresheet with a confident penalty.
Max was kept busy in goal and made a number of brave saves, captain Luke was a colossus as the last line of defence and Darragh and Brandon pushed forward well. Theo, debutant William and Alex all tackled tenaciously.
But it was against the Tigers that the boys really found their scoring boots, while at the other end Luke kept a clean sheet after taking over between the posts.
Joe led the way, notching five times, the rampaging James hit a net-busting second-half hat-trick and Matty S bagged a brace. Tom poked home his first goal for the team to round off a fine performance, in which skipper Max, George and Jacob also played key roles.
