U7: Marshfield Jnrs v CCCFC Print
Season 10/11 - Under 7
The under-7s squad enjoyed an excellent tussle with a tough Marshfield side in a hastily-arranged friendly at Withymead.
Squad numbers were down due to the half-term break, meaning those who made the trip had plenty of football in an hour-long contest that was split into four quarters.
After Matty S made a string of truly outstanding saves in the first quarter, he twice set up Joe for a pair of cracking strikes in the second. But, try as they might, the dynamic duo could not add to the team’s tally later on.
Bradley had an effort cleared off the line and Matthew R also went close in an all-action display. The brave Darragh got through plenty of work and James’ strong running was always a threat. George kept a clean sheet in goal and did well in midfield alongside Brandon and Alex. Josh and Tom showed plenty of discipline at the back as the boys were given their most difficult test for some time by Marshfield side that included our former player, Robert.
The team are already looking forward to heading back down the A420 for a rematch at the end of March.
