U7: Marshfield Jnrs v CCCFC Print
Season 10/11 - Under 7
Colts’ travelling supporters were given a rollercoaster ride by their team during two thrilling friendly battles with Marshfield.
The first of a couple of very evenly-matched fixtures flowed from end-to-end, with defensive rock Josh enjoying a real tussle with marauding former Colt Robert, who netted a hat-trick against his old side and was also denied on more than one occasion by Theo, making an impressive first appearance between the posts.
Colts posed plenty of problems with their attacking play, however, and Matty S grabbed a treble of his own before setting up Matthew R for the second of his brace – a strike which drew the biggest cheer of the day when it crashed into the roof of the net. Front-runner Bradley also went desperately close to keeping his manager happy on a couple of occasions and Darragh worked hard to set up a number of chances. Jacob and birthday boy Tom also contributed to an excellent team display.
The second game had a lot to live up to after that but live up to it it did – despite a slow start from the visitors that saw keeper Matty S beaten on a couple of occasions in the first half. However, Colts really hit their stride playing up the slope and, assisted by some magnificent approach play from George and Luke, Max produced three fine finishes to bag another hat-trick.
Brandon joined him on the scoresheet with a powerful late strike from outside the area that proved too hot for the home keeper to handle. James covered plenty of ground in an energetic performance and the tenacious Theo was determined in defence.
