U7: Cadbury Heath v CCCFC Print
Season 10/11 - Under 7
The under-7s travelled to the outskirts of Bristol for two close friendly matches with a very useful Cadbury Heath outfit.
With ‘debutant’ coaches Dean and Phil watching from the sidelines, the Whites broke the deadlock in the first half of their game through James’ long-range strike. Some magnificent defending from the rock-solid Josh, who was assisted by midfielders George, Brandon and Jacob, helped soak up a sustained spell of Cadbury Heath pressure and, when the hosts did break through the defensive line, they found keeper Luke in inspired form. The tireless Matty S battled bravely through the pain barrier and was rewarded with Colts’ second goal. He then showed great vision after collecting Luke’s throw-out to lay on the third for Bradley, who finished clinically.
The Blacks demonstrated the fighting spirit that lies within the squad in a see-saw second game. After early goals from Max and Matthew R it looked like it would be business as usual but Cadbury Heath battled back strongly and asked plenty of questions of the defence, finding a way past keeper Bradley despite the sterling efforts of Luke, Will, Theo and Alex at the back. Luke was then pushed into midfield to help the front-runners and he and Darragh helped unlock the door for Max to net his second. Matthew R then doubled his own tally direct from a corner, albeit with the help of a defender’s head!
