The under-7s squad impressed on their tournament debut at Stanley Park as two Colts teams participated in FC Chippenham’s festival of football. A dominant Whites outfit did not concede in any of their four matches, which saw them pitched against Firefighters, Yate United, Trowbridge Town and Marshfield. Matty S found the net in the opening game against Yate before the Whites’ meeting with a strong Trowbridge side ended in stalemate. Joe hit a fantastic hat-trick against Firefighters, with Matty adding a spectacular strike from a tight angle, and was also on the scoresheet alongside James against Marshfield. Josh, Jacob and George proved their versatility by playing important roles both in goal and outfield and Brandon supported the front-runners well. The Blacks also had a successful day, with their goal only breached in their last match by a very tough Blunsdon Colts team. Goalkeeping heroics from Max, Luke and Bradley thwarted Westbury, Trowbridge Town and Yate United before that. Luke’s brilliant solo effort, which saw him race from his own box to score, was the highlight of the Blacks’ game with Westbury, while Darragh showed great composure to find the net against Trowbridge. Alex and William both tackled well when the team came under pressure and the all-action Matthew R was a real driving force in midfield. |
