U7: CCCFC v Cadbury Heath |
Season 10/11 - Under 7 |
The under-7s rounded off their 2010-11 fixture programme in fitting fashion with two tremendous team performances against visitors Cadbury Heath. While the goals once again flowed in the final matches of the season, of equal importance was the role of the defenders, who ensured keepers Max and Matty S were kept relatively quiet against a side who had matched the Colts a fortnight previously. The ever-reliable Josh, Will and Jacob helped the Whites keep another clean sheet to go with the one they achieved at FC Chippenham a week previously, while at the other end Joe led the way with five goals. He also provided the undoubted highlight of the morning for the Colts when he volleyed a Cadbury Heath goal kick back over the keeper’s head and into the net from virtually the halfway line – a quite staggering strike, even by Joe’s high standards. Joe’s partner-in-crime Matty S netted twice, as did James, with Brandon joining them on the scoresheet. Five of the seven outfield players in the Whites line-up were on target in their match. Matthew R hit a hat-trick and Max, the versatile Luke and Bradley all notched twice. Darragh hit his second goal in as many weeks before proving his value to the team with a sterling display at the back. George’s quick feet created a number of chances and he and Theo played key roles both in midfield and at the back. The squad, who now have 184 goals to their name in an incredible debut season, will be aiming to hit the 200 mark during their three festival appearances next month. |
