U7: TeamBath Arsenal tournament Print
Season 10/11 - Under 7
The under-7s squad members – together with their soaking wet parents and supporters – demonstrated their commitment to the cause as the TeamBath Arsenal tournament took place in persistent rain at Lansdown playing fields.
Both the Blacks and Whites faced a busy afternoon with six fixtures each, but only completed two of them in truly abysmal conditions before common sense prevailed and proceedings were called to an early halt. The teams looked well set for a successful afternoon at the time, with neither conceding a goal and Blacks keepers Max and Bradley only touching the ball once between them.
George’s cross-cum-shot found its way into the net in the Whites’ opener against Westbury A and he was on target again in the second game with Frome Town Black. Matty S added a fine double against Frome for the team skippered well by Joe. Newcomer Daniel, Josh and James all performed important duties in midfield and defence.
Sam C’s precise finish got the Blacks off the mark against the hosts’ Red team, before Frome Town White were hit by two clinical strikes from Max and a Matthew R effort. Bradley, Sam H, Alex and captain Luke all battled hard in an impressive team display.
Despite the magnificent efforts of all the boys, the man of the match award must go jointly to the Sallows family, whose purchase of a gazebo the day before proved a wise one to say the very least!
