U7: CCCFC tournament |
Season 10/11 - Under 7 |
Castle Combe Colts under-7s ended an outstanding season in style at their home tournament, producing some cracking performances and ending the morning with their first piece of silverware in the trophy cabinet. While it was the Blacks who carried off the fair play award after receiving the highest marks from the tournament officials, the prize was one for the whole squad to treasure as all of the players have been a credit to their club, coaches and parents this term. They have been phenomenally successful, hitting the net more than 200 times since kicking off in October, but have done so with a smile on their faces and always shown respect to their opponents and referees. The Blacks had four extremely close matches against Worton & Cheverell, Chippenham Town Youth, Yate United B and Malmesbury. The highlight was an end-to-end clash with Chippenham that saw Matthew R’s trademark driven corner deflected into the net and keeper Max make a magnificent one-on-one save in the closing seconds. Darragh marked his farewell appearance for the team before leaving for Ireland in the summer with some great footwork, while Luke and Bradley both went agonisingly close to scoring against Malmesbury. George was as reliable as ever in midfield and newcomer Daniel again showed what a useful addition he will be to the squad next season. Rowan made a welcome return to the fold for the Whites, starring with some brave and instinctive goalkeeping in the team’s matches against Yate United A, FC Chippenham B, Trowbridge Wanderers and Greenmeadow. He was assisted by the excellent Josh, who yet again lived up to his ‘Rock’ nickname, and James at the back. Joe and Matty S combined well and were always a threat going forward. Both scored in a tremendous battle with FC Chippenham and did so again, along with Brandon, as the Whites turned in a dominant display against Trowbridge. |
