U8: Fair play to Castle Combe Colts Print
Season 10/11 - Under 8 Blacks & Whites

Over the weekend,  125 youth football teams and in excess of 2000 spectators converged on Castle Combe for the club's annual football tournament. Teams from as far afield as Usk in Monmouthshire, Bath and Bristol joined local squads from all across Wiltshrie in a two-day celebration of the sport. Inspite of sweltering conditions well into the 30s, players turned up the heat to produce some truly stunning football.

The host's under-7s and under-8s were recognised for their excellent sportsmanship with both teams  winning the Fair Play Award for their groups. "The whole aim of Castle Combe Colts Football Club is to develop the skills of children in a positive atmosphere, with an emphasis on fun and sportsmanship," said CCCFC Chairman, Trevor Newman.  "We are delighted to win the Fair Play Awards which are testament to the great attitude our players, parents, coaches and managers have towards the game."

The under-8s of Castle Combe entered 3 teams into their own tournament and had a whale of a time - debut goals from Bradley and George (2) were added to by a treble from Joe P, 2 from Will, 2 from Louie all topped off with an exquisite set piece routine finished by Jayden.
A special word of thanks has to go to the U7's (Bradley, George and Luke) who stepped up to play for us, leaving their manager Neil purring on the sidelines with pride.

The Chairman again: "Our annual tournament continues to go from strength to strength. We are immmensly proud of the location and extent of our facilities - and this year, we were able to offer onsite parking, thanks to the generosity of the Lysley family. Football is a very passionate affair, only rarely living up to its tag of 'the beautiful game'. When you have a thousand kids playing the game like they did this weekend -  skillfully, joyfully and with respect for opponent, colleague and referee - it does deserve that accolade. We feel confident that  everyone went home with fantastic memories from this two  day festival of football
