U8s: Melksham United A&B v CCCFC Print
Season 11/12 - Under 8
The under-8s made a blistering start to their double-header with Melksham United at Christie Miller as Matty S helped himself an early double against the home club’s A team.
A moment to savour then followed when Joe headed home Matthew R’s fantastic cross and the Colts continued to create chances throughout, although Melksham showed great spirit and replied in the second half.
Matty S made sure of a goal bonus from his dad by completing his hat-trick after the break, Joe made it two for the day with a confidently-taken penalty and Matthew R rounded off the scoring with a deserved strike. Max kept a clean sheet in goal and later almost got in on the act at the other end, although the less said about his Maradonna impression (his first goal v England in 86, not the second) the better! George and Luke showed what great team players they are by taking care of the Melksham attack and both played key roles in an excellent performance.
The Colts team that faced Melksham B had little previous experience of playing alongside one another but stuck to their task and improved as a unit as the game progressed.
Bradley revelled in the extra responsibility he was given in a midfield berth and set up Brandon for the game’s opening goal. Melksham hit back, despite the efforts of the tough-tackling Daniel, James and Jacob at the back. The tigerish Rowan was heavily involved at both ends of the field, while debutant Luca made a couple of great saves in the first half before giving an energetic display after the break.
