U9 CCCFC Black 2 Melksham Utd D 0 Print
Season 11/12 - Under 9 Blacks & Whites
CCCFC 'Blacks' v Melksham United 'D'
This was a strong performance from the whole squad against a determined Melksham team who had obviously watched highlights on match of the day of our other games and had come to defend.  We fought well in the first half with some excellent passages of play but were unable to find the net.  Jason later found out that Guy Fawkes has a lot to answer for and firework displays should be banned on nights before match days!
The defence and midfield were particularly strong with excellent displays from Henry and Darryl who tackled hard and then made accurate passes up the field to provide excellent counterattacking opportunities.   Josh worked tirelessly as ever in midfield running back and making tackles and then trying to release other runners with some good passes.
HT 0-0
Jason gave a strong half time talk whilst prodding several players to wake them up!  We pushed more players into attack which paid off with several frustrated shots on target.  All players worked harder in the second half which resulted in good shots from Ollie, Dan S, Ben and Henry (who with more luck could have found the net two or three times!!) Our patience was soon to be repaid with Joe finding the net with a fantastic shot from outside the box.  The crowd began to 'liven up' and were treated to some great passing moves from defence to midfield and some attacking runs into the opposition half particularly from Nick and 'twinkle toes' Ben who dribbled around three defenders before getting a shot on target.
The extra pressure paid off with Nick hitting a 'corker of a shot which deflected off a Melksham leg. I am sure it would have found the net anyway so we will award 'half a goal' for this one!
Particular credit must be given to some of the other members of the squad Dan N and Billy who managed to rise to the challenge with some great tackling and passing.  This was a good result that had to be ground out.  We also managed to record our first clean sheet of the season, particular praise must be given to Jude in goal who made some fantastic saves and who also advanced on attackers to prevent them getting a shot.!! He is fast becoming our number one goalie.
Final Score 2-0
Well done lads!
