U8: CCCFC v Bradford Town Youth |
Season 11/12 - Under 8 |
A busy morning for the under-8s squad saw Bradford Town visit for three matches that produced plenty of thrills and spills for a large crowd to enjoy. The Blacks kicked things off with a fine display of teamwork, with the boys showing their growing versatility by swapping positions throughout. Four different players got on the scoresheet, with Matthew R nearly ripping the back of the net out a couple of times on his way to a hat-trick. George’s trickery also led to a well-taken treble, Luke notched twice – including an emphatic penalty – and Bradley rolled home the other goal. Max worked hard at both ends of the field and was desperately unlucky not to add to the Blacks’ total. A game Bradford side showed plenty of improvement from the reverse fixture last month and replied with a couple of great strikes. Joe took his tally for the season past 30 with four more goals - and also made some timely interventions at the back - as the Whites were given a real run for their money by Bradford Tigers. Matty S was also on the mark with a superb first-time finish and Joe rattled the post with a fierce penalty but the frontmen were made to work hard for their reward by a tenacious and determined Bradford defence. Captain Josh R’s hard but fair tackling kept the visitors at bay at the other end, while Brandon and James made good contributions both in defence and attack. Rowan starred with some brilliant saves for the Whites before showing his total commitment to the cause in the third game of the morning. Playing further up the field, he won a free-kick before converting it in style for his first goal for the club. Sadly, Rowan’s brave attempt to foil a Bradford attack shortly afterwards led to a ball in the face and a bloody nose, ending his involvement in the game – even though he was desperate to return to the fray! Caleb and Luca also had a day to remember by opening their goal accounts in the black and white stripes, while the tigrish Josh M battled away throughout. Max and Luke did a great job between the posts and Bradley and Brandon shored up the defence in the second half. |
