U8: CCCFC v Westbury Youth Print
Season 11/12 - Under 8
The strength of Colts’ talented under-8s squad shone through in two matches with Westbury Youth.
Westbury travelled in big numbers but their Lions faced a Whites team in full flow in the morning's opening game. Joe was in outstanding form, helping to snuff out the visitors’ key men at one end while also hitting a hat-trick at the other. Matty showed great composure in front of goal and ended a typically energetic display with the team’s other four goals.  Brandon’s unselfish work and awareness deserved a goal, while Luca and Jacob battled well and made some key tackles in midfield. Skipper Josh marshalled the defence in no-nonsense fashion and Rowan and James, who had a half each in goal, both pulled off vital saves to keep a useful Westbury outfit at bay.
The Blacks delivered another passing masterclass in their game with Westbury Tigers, with some tidy approach play leading to a host of chances in front of goal. Bradley started the ball rolling with a couple of first-half efforts, nicking one from George on the line, before completing his hat-trick in style with a brilliant free-kick into the top corner. On a day of spectacular strikes, Luke volleyed home Matthew’s corner at the near post and George finished with aplomb before Max chested in from close range. Perhaps the best was saved for last, however, with Matthew – now playing at the back – sensationally lobbing the keeper from inside his own half to round off the scoring. While the front players grabbed the glory, Daniel was a real unsung hero with a rock-solid defensive display.
