U8: FC Calne v CCCFC |
Season 11/12 - Under 8 |
The under-8s Whites and Blacks put down another strong marker when they came up against FC Calne’s talented and highly-rated squad at Springfield School. Joe made it 40 goals in nine matches this season as he netted five times in the Whites’ game with Calne Pumas, his tally including a beauty from a tight angle. Keeper Rowan made a couple of great one-on-one saves and James went close to scoring from long range. Matty worked his socks off and was unlucky not to find the target and Brandon and Luca made some important challenges in midfield, setting up Joe for his third of the morning. Josh’s exemplary defending made it seem as though the Colts had three men at the back. The Blacks showed their resolve and fighting spirit after conceding three early goals to Calne Panthers. After adjusting to the hosts’ tactics and large pitch they struck back through the rampant Max, who produced four clinical first-half finishes. Captain Daniel was a tower of strength at the back and put in some mighty tackles, while Matthew’s all-action display saw him help shore up the defence while score twice – including a peach direct from a corner – at the other end. Luke came out of goal in the second half and his marauding runs from deep were a major feature of the visitors’ play after the break. George’s fancy footwork and tenacity bamboozled the Calne defence and Caleb showed his versatility will telling contributions at both ends of the field. Bradley dazzled on both wings and finished off a couple of superb team moves on his way to a hat-trick. |
