U9 Blacks - Melksham A 7 CCCFC 0 Print
Season 11/12 - Under 9 Blacks & Whites
The Blacks faced tough opposition in the second round of the Cup against Melksham A who are flying at the top of their league. We have played and beaten Melksham D, who are in our League and those were tough games so - this was always going to be tricky. On our day we are capable of beating almost anyone from really great footballing teams like Liverpool FC to really poor and terrible teams like Manchester United.

The blacks started great with some excellent passing to keep the ball and a trip to Wembley for the Cup final looked within reach until after a minute or so when Melksham A scored. We had a top defensive line up with Jude in goal and Ben and Henry in defense assisted by the tireless work of Ollie in Midfield who has given Jason a selection headache with such a superb display. Even with such a great defensive team and Ollie's energy we did concede another goal, then another, then another, one more, followed by one more and then one after that. Final score 7-0.

However, for periods of the game Castle Combe matched Melksham, got the ball and kept it, pushing forward and creating some good chances. If it wasn't for a brilliant diving save from the Melksham Goalie then we would have had a goal from a great long range effort from Josh who had another fine game. The guys did Castle Combe proud with a fantastic display with everyone trying their hardest right until the final whistle. The development of the team has been so great this season and if it continues like it has been so far then it will not be long before we can beat the likes of Melksham A. No Wembley final this season but an exit with heads held high.
