U8: CCCFC v AFC Corsham Print
Season 11/12 - Under 8
The under-8s squad demonstrated their strength in depth with two great team performances against AFC Corsham.
Both the Blacks and the Whites were without key men but again delivered the goods on a glorious spring morning at Castle Combe.
The Blacks rounded off their successful Red Division season in style, finding the net eight times in an impressive second-half display.
Daniel showed why he will be sorely missed on his farewell appearance, making a series of strong challenges to keep Corsham’s dangerman at bay during a close first period. Its only goal came courtesy of George, who converted an excellent pass from Bradley.
The hugely influential Matthew R produced a couple of cracking strikes after the break, while the clinical Max netted four times and Toby continued his run with a double. All three shouldered the responsibility placed on them by their coach and were backed up by Caleb, Alex and Josh M.
Matty S and Tom were on target for the Whites, who were only denied more goals by a combination of the woodwork and an outstanding display from Corsham’s second-half keeper.
Brandon can count himself particularly unfortunate after striking the post four times but kept plugging away and played some intelligent passes. Captain Josh and Luca were disciplined and resolute at the back and, when Corsham did manage to break through the defensive line, they found keepers Rowan and Tom in fine form.
Dylan worked hard on his second outing for the Colts, while James was thwarted by some superb saves as he looked to add his name to the scoresheet.
