Under 15 - 19/10/08 - CCCFC vs Bradford Town Youth Print
Season 08/09 - Under 15

Castle Combe Colts 9, Bradford Town Youth 1.

This was an excellent game to watch, with Bradford making the early running in the game and scoring after 12 minutes following a mistake from the Combe Defence and the Combe Keeper Matthew Baines. Bradford pressed hard and after an attack was broken down by the Combe defence, Bradford were awarded a corner. From the kick, the Combe keeper parried the ball and in the goal mouth mêlée the followed it was neatly slotted home to make the score 2-0 to Bradford, only to have the goal ruled out by the referee as Bradford had made a substitution, but the player due to come off had not gone off and Bradford had 12 players on the field of play when the goal was scored.

This seemed to spur Castle Combe on and Combe then dominated the remainder of the half and scored after 22 minutes from Jack Fraser and then 2 from striker Matt Stevens, with Combe going in at half time 3-1 leaders.

Combe came out in the second half appearing to have the greater will to win and dominated the half, pinning Bradford back for the majority of it. Combe opened the scoring from a lovely strike from Andy Jobbins after 16 minutes in and further goals from Tom Golding (2), Oli Thomas with an outstanding strike from 25 yards, Sam Wozniak and Luke Watkins with a headed goal on his Combe debut rounded off the scoring and a dominant performance from the home team.

This game was played in excellent spirits from both teams and they were a credit to themselves, their clubs and the league.
