Season 12/13 - Under 12

What a difference a week makes !!!

A massive improvement from the colts this morning ensured a first victory of the season. Eddie opened the scoring after 13 mins with a thunderous strike from just inside the box, a nice through ball from Matthew allowed Eddie to neatly slot home goal number 2. The colts were now in full flow and all were oozing confidence, James & Matthew were dominating the midfield areas and causing Melksham all sorts of problems, debutant Joe Escott was very unlucky not to get on the score sheet when his terrific shot struck the cross bar however on 25 mins Charlie popped up at the back post to get on the end of a cross to score number 3 with a neat finish. Melksham managed to get a goal back right on the stroke of half time. 1-3

In the 2nd half the colts carried on where they left off and soon added number 4 when Eddie used his pace to latch onto another Matthew pass to calmly score, Melksham kept on battling and they continued to push forward, this allowed more room in behind their defence and again this was exploited with more fine passing and Eddie's pace to score number 5 by going coolly around the keeper. Melksham kept on attacking and were rewarded with 2 goals to make it 3-5. The game was finally made safe with an early contender for goal of the season when after a superb run from Jamie, Eddie collected the loose ball to jink past 2 defenders before unleashing a superb curling shot into the top right hand corner of the net. There were plenty of very good performances today, especially Tom & Dan. Well done to our new players Joe Escott & Joe Dandridge on their debuts.

Man of the match: Eddie - much improved work rate and 5 excellent goals.

Next game: Westbury Lions at home on Sunday 7th Oct kick off 10.30am
