No joy once again for U10s Print
Season 12/13 - Under 10 Black & White

Calne 4 CCCFC Blacks 0

Arguably the best side we have played this season. However we started at a canter, and they at a sprint, resulting in our usual trick of conceding 2 goals before we got going. Which was a shame as the subsequent 15 minutes of the first half we held our own, and created several chances. Always unfortunate to give a penalty away, and a long range shot on goal by their gifted centre forward did show we gave them very little chance to create anything inside our box, this is testament to how good our defense has become.
Into the second half once again we let in a goal in the opening couple of minutes, this is a habit we should get out of very quickly, but once again it was a long range effort and rather lucky for them. The rest of the second half was a different story. The sides were much more evenly matched and we hit their post maybe 5-6 times.
I asked the team to come off having given everything and I believe they did. They ALL played to a high standard, and the improvements week on week are visible for all to see.
Dan and Dante are really beginning to work well as a partnership, Dan very unlucky not to find the back of the net on several occasions, and Dante really putting in the yards, tracking back when necessary.
Joe was as direct and skillful as ever, making runs and passes as required. Ben making tackles, interceptions that only he can make was a big plus, and Daryl was visible all over the pitch, popping up at the right place at the right time. Jude was very effective in midfield, always pushing forward and is becoming very good at reading the game. Alex was solid and creative in defense, no goals were taken by the opposition from close range, testament to his play. Henry had a good first half in goal, and then made his presence felt in mid field. But my man of the match goes to Josh, who was fantastic in goal in the second half, and always makes an impact in mid field.
Well done guys, we are getting there! Simon

The Whites provided an unwanted symmetry to this weekends results. This was a really close game in which the woodwork was rattled 4 or 5 times. Fine margins mean a lot in the higher leagues and the fact that:

  • we didnt quite score on a large number of occasions,
  • we didnt quite get the ball away on the occasions we were threatened
  • we were just on the wrong side of the physical battle

is a worry. We passed really well, we made good decisions, we used imagination and lifted our heads to observe the game really well. Everything above the neck seemed to go well. There was a lot to be really really pleased with. We just naievly lost out out in a few sly battles and were lacking physically - we are missing some of the muscle we lost in the summer. Big players running at us need to be dealt with - otherwise we will keep losing goals. I think pretty much everyone was a 7 out of 10 today with Joe doing a bit better at 8 out of 10 to clinch the MOM tag. Be brave guys - Time to MAN UP BOYS!!
