Five different players got their names on the scoresheet as the Whites booked a Mid-Wilts League Cup semi-final spot with a comfortable victory over Devizes. After misfiring in a couple of recent friendly outings, the Colts burst out of the blocks and quickly established a 3-0 lead. Tom’s pace and directness caused the Devizes defence all sorts of problems and he opened the scoring from close range before Matthew smashed the second high into the net. Toby was always a threat on the left flank and got his reward with a fierce cross-shot that flew past the busy visiting keeper. With Max as safe as houses between the posts and Josh and Luke forming a rock-solid defensive partnership, a game Devizes side were not given a sniff of a comeback. George added to Colts’ advantage when he blasted home from the edge of the area and Luke rounded off the win with a precise finish from Bradley’s excellent pass. The boys’ delight at the final whistle was matched by that of their coaches and supporters and they will look to maintain the high standards set when the league season resumes after half-term. |
