U9 Division 1: Trowbridge Tn Lions 4 CCCFC Whites 1 Print
Season 12/13 - Under 9 Black & White

The Whites were handed a second Division 1 defeat by a strong Trowbridge Town Lions outfit, albeit by a margin that flattered the home side.
An excellent first-half performance saw the Colts put the Lions onto the back foot for long spells but despite forcing a number of corners and ricochets in the box, were unable to make their pressure tell.
Flying wingers Toby and Tom posed questions of the Lions back-line in the early stages, with Bradley linking play well in attack. Matthew’s fantastic header from Tom’s corner whistled just over and Luke had a powerful shot blocked but some good defending kept the visitors at arms’ length.
At the other end, Josh and Luke provided a solid base and Max was as confident as ever between the posts, putting the Lions under pressure with some fine kicking from hand. Brandon’s brilliant goalline clearance denied the hosts an opener in a first half that remained scoreless.
The Colts were unlucky to fall behind after the break when Tom’s touch took a shot from distance out of keeper Luke’s reach.
George was looking lively up front and grabbed a deserved equaliser when his close-range effort was parried but not kept out by the keeper.  A couple of quick-fire clinical finishes proved the Colts’ undoing, however, and the Lions went on to add a fourth despite the best efforts of Luke, who pulled off a couple of great stops.
Colts ended the game on top but were denied a further consolation when Toby’s ferocious effort hit the inside of a post and somehow stayed out. They can be proud of their efforts, though, and will certainly pick up points in a tough division if they repeat their display of the opening 20 minutes on a regular basis.
