So - we decided to experiment with a midweek fixture. It so nearly worked

In a game much closer than the scoreline suggests, the guys created chance after chance but narrowly failed to take them. On any other day, if we put in that much effort - our quality is such that we would notch 4 or 5 of those opportunities.

The first half was one way traffic, Zac ravaged the right back - JJ the left. David had a great game in the middle, meanwhile an out of sorts Archie still worked up front to create opportunities for others. Jayden and Tom were superb at the back and Nick was one slip of concentration away from a clean sheet in goal. Toby was his usual whole hearted self whereas Rory had his best game for quite a while looking threatening up front.

A slight lack of determination in our own goal area is a recurring problem we need to address - this reared its head again in the second half when we went 2-0 down in probably our worst spell of the game. This prompted us back into action and Nick lobbed a speculative shot in with 8 mins to go for a great goal -  Game on. I fully expected us then to get a draw that we would have just about deserved, but it was not to be. Two more lapses of concentration - to be fair, whilst we were pushing for an equaliser - did for us.

For man of the match - there were a few contenders - JJ got stuck in, Jayden gave his all, Zac had the beating of the defence whenever he wanted - but David was exemplary and just nicks it.
