U9 Division 1: Melksham Hurricanes 1 CCCFC Whites 2 Print
Season 12/13 - Under 9 Black & White

Hard work on the training ground paid off for the Whites, who collected their second win of a hugely-competitive Division 1 campaign.
Both goals came via right-wing corners from Toby following midweek set-piece practice as the boys showed increased determination to win the ball in the opponents’ area.
Tom tapped the Colts ahead from close range in the first after reacting quickest to a rebound and Luke bundled home a late, late winner just as it looked as though the visitors would have to settle for yet another draw despite their second-half pressure.
Keeper Max had another impeccable game between the posts and could do nothing about Melksham’s first-half equaliser, which came after the Colts switched off and allowed their hosts to break on the right and thread the ball across the box for a simple finish into an empty net.
But their tricky strikeforce was largely kept at arm’s length by defenders Josh, Brandon and Toby, all of whom made some great tackles and clearances.
George, Tom and Bradley were full of running on the flanks and kept the Colts on the front foot, while Matthew was a real driving force in midfield and set up chance after chance. His cracking long-range drive hit the bar and he twice set up Luke – playing on one leg due to injury – for shots that went just wide.
The latter got his reward in the end, however, to earn the Colts a deserved and very welcome three points.
