We welcomed North Wilts Div 1 Brinkworth Cats to Castle Combe for a county cup game.

The first half was a very close affair with chances at both ends, our best opportunity falling to Eddie, but on this occasion was unable to find the net, an early injury to Joshua meant a slight re-shuffle in midfield. 0-0 at halftime.

The colts were told to continue with the same effort & commitment in the 2nd half and this they duly did. We deservedly took the lead on 55mins when a harmless looking pass from Matthew was latched onto by Eddie after some indecision by a defender, Eddie then neatly squared the ball past the advancing keeper for Jamie to knock into the empty net. In fairness to Brinkworth they upped their game in search of an equaliser, unfortunately it was Brinkworth who got the next goal when their attacker reacted quicker than us and lobbed the ball over Jasper. A very soft free kick was given in a dangerous area of the pitch and to give credit where its due the Brinkworth player struck a superb shot into the top corner, a few minutes later it was almost the same free kick situation, but this time Jasper pulled off a fantastic save to keep us in the game. As hard as we tried we couldn't find another goal, Brinkworth scored a scrappy 3rd with only seconds remaining. A very good effort today against opponents from a higher league, well done to all.
