U10 Blue Division: Westbury Lions 1 CCCFC Whites 3 Print
Season 13/14 - Under 10 White

The Whites and Westbury were involved in another terrific tussle as the Blue Division’s top two went head to head at Redland Lane.
There were chances galore at either end on Westbury’s compact pitch and the Colts were fortunate to survive a second-half battering before emerging with a two-goal margin of victory.
That they did was down to another superb display of goalkeeping from Max and the determined defensive efforts of Tom, Luke, Brandon M, Matthew and Toby, all of whom thwarted a very dangerous Westbury side with some tenacious challenges and blocks.
The hosts made the better start to the game and almost opened the scoring in a couple of goalmouth scrambles, while at the other end the lively running of George and Bradley troubled the Westbury defence.
Colts then broke the deadlock when they won a free-kick midway inside the Westbury half and Matthew’s thunderous, wind-assisted drive flew past an unsighted keeper and into the net.
That was the way it stayed until midway through the second period. With Westbury’s sharp football and pace continuing to pose questions, Colts broke quickly on the counter and Bradley’s pass to the supporting Brandon H was diverted into his own net by a home defender.
Westbury pulled one back almost immediately with a superb strike that left Max helpless and the Colts goal led a very charmed life in the five minutes that followed as shots rained in from all angles.
The visitors weathered the storm, however, and finished the game in the ascendancy, securing the points that kept them at the summit when the predatory George scored from close range following a spot of pinball inside the Westbury box.
