U11 Mere 2 CCCFC White 1 Print
Season 13/14 - Under 11 White

Difficult day......but heads held very much high

Away games at Mere are always difficult, we had a bare 9 - but it was the same 9 heroes who beat Chippenham, Could they do it again?

The lads played really well and completely dominated the first half. Chances came regularly - Tom sh/could have scored a couple, Jayden also - if the Mere keeper hadnt been 6'6 and very very good.

Max, Toby and Felix were excellent in defence (as they were in the second half also). Our skipper had to go off with a blow to the ankle (a fate that was to befell Archie and Alex in the second half as well) but he went back on to do his shift for the team.

In the second half, the heavy pitch started to take its toll - along with the fact that the guys hadnt played for a month.

We conceded a goal from not clearing a corner which was there to clear (WHEN WILL WE LEARN?). JJ and Ben continued to work the wings though and Alex and Jay got to grips with the midfield. Archie kept up his record of scoring in every single league game by striking a pearler into the top corner from 15 yards and I thought at this stage that there would only be one winner. Mere created a few chances and scored when ..........................we didnt clear from a corner............. leaving someone to dribble the ball in for a very preventable goal.

We went straight up the pitch and Archie struck again!! The keeper could only parry his shot into the net. Unfortunately the ref inexplicably decided that the ball did not cross the line. As we know the refs decision is final, but it knocked the stuffing out of our flagging lads and the game was effectively over.

Great fitness, character and passing guys - as these are the things we have been working on, I'm delighted. just clear the flipping ball when its bouncing around in our box!!!!

MOM - Max - best performance so far

WELL DONE EVERYONE
