Not even the continuing wet weather could prevent Castle Combe Colts U10 Whites from claiming their first piece of silverware of 2014 as they emerged as champions of @Futsal Swindon’s Half-Term Tournament.
The Whites, whose last outing on grass was way back on December 15, have had a few opportunities to hone their skills on the five-a-side court over the past two months and reached the final of an event in Frome in January.
This time they went one better, coming from behind to beat Mid-Wilts Blue Division rivals Trowbridge Wanderers 3-1 in an exciting final after holding their nerve to beat Swindon Strikers on penalties in the semis.
Colts had finished second to Wanderers in the group stages, which saw them beat Swindon, Yate United and Liden Community and draw with Melksham United.
Matthew was a revelation as the team’s goalkeeper/sweeper in the closing stages of the tournament, Josh was typically tough in the tackle in defence and Bradley, Brandon H, Toby, Tom and George all helped themselves to goals during a fantastic afternoon.
