U10 Blue Division: Chippenham Town Eagles 0 CCCFC Whites 2 Print
Season 13/14 - Under 10 White

The Whites negotiated another tough fixture with local rivals Chippenham Town Eagles to regain the outright lead at the top of the Mid-Wilts League Blue Division table.
With the wet weather rendering all grass pitches at Stanley Park unplayable once again, the game took place on the 3G facility but a strong wind and quick surface combined to make for a stop-start affair in which both sides struggled to retain possession.
Chippenham made the better start and keeper Max did brilliantly to adjust his position and palm away a lob as it moved awkwardly in the air.
Another solid performance from the Colts number one warranted another clean sheet and he was guarded well by the resolute and determined Josh and Tom in front of him.
The visitors began to break down an organised Chippenham side and Luke and Toby both fired just wide before joining forces to set up Brandon M for a low finish that opened the scoring.
It was a goal that visibly lifted the Colts and they produced an improved second-half display on the back of it.
With George and Bradley tackling and distributing the ball well from the flanks, the visitors pushed Chippenham back and Toby hit the post from close range before winning a free-kick saw Matthew denied by a deflection off the wall.
Matthew’s mazy run was then halted illegally inside the box and, although his powerful penalty was pushed over the bar, he recovered to thread the ball through for Brandon M to place it past the keeper for his second goal of the morning.
The game then became stretched on a longer-than-normal pitch as Chippenham looked for a response and the Colts attempted to hit them on the break.
There were no more goals, however, and the Colts emerged knowing they will need to work equally hard in order to overcome the same opponents in the League Cup semi-finals in three weeks’ time.
