CCCFC U9's Whites V's Bradford Town Print
Season 14/15 - Under 9 White

When we all woke up on Saturday morning the rain was falling hard. Parents everywhere hoping for the cancellation text that did not come!! It didn't matter though because by the time we arrived at the Rugby club to play against Bradford town the rain had stopped and the sun was out.

The Colts were a player short with Ben away with a stinking cold and he was certainly missed as the colts lined up a player down. Although Ben's supreme tackling was missed the Colts started strong with some great teamwork providing some excellent opportunities on goal, Bradford’s Goal keeper however had a different plan. Nothing was getting past him. He had a great game almost never dropping a ball.

The Colts were not be deterred however, Ryan passing to James and then on to Lucas and back to Ryan to put the first of what turned out to be many goals by both teams away. With Lucas on mighty form he dropped a couple in followed by James with a great piece of positional play from a corner. Bradford were fighting hard as they were returning strong and testing the Colts defence of Mighty Matty and Cannonball Cole. On the rare occasion these two were passed they had to shoot at William in Goal who brought his A game with some lightning reactions and great saves.

The crowd were treated to a great game of football with both sides hungry for the win. The Colts showed steely determination in the face of being one light without Ben. The coaches showed great sportsmanship also and a special mention today to Rick and Darren for managing to motivate a tired group of little men.

We look forward to next week’s spectacle of Trowbridge at Castle Combe. Here's hoping for a full team and Ben feeling better.

Matty gearing up for a belter !!!
