Season 14/15 - Under 12 White

Without ever touching the heights of recent weeks in terms of playing style, the lads proved they could cope with a sticky pitch, a howling wind and good opponents and work out a way to win.

Our opponents had previously only lost one game (the same as  us) so we knew it was going to be a tough game. The fact that the one game was to us in the opening game of the season by a large margin, shows how much they have improved over the year.

We started on the front foot and could have forced a goal from a number of scrambles. jayden hit one shot that provoked a brilliant save from the calne keeper. Max in our goal - pulled off an equally good save later on to provide the platform for JJ to curl in a shot with one of the last kicks of the half. We didnt deserve to be in the lead at half time but we had played that half against the strong wind.

If we thought we had done the hardest bit - we were wrong. 2 of our best players went off with injuries - Max and Alex - leaving the responsibility on others to step up and win the game. Calne equalised with a 20 yard drive into the top corner.

Problem - what are you going to do? Settle for a draw? or go for the win?

Our lads chose the second route and with Jayden and Louie driving us on we were able to create a lot of pressure. Nimble footwork from Louie, JBW and Archie eventually forced a mistake. A defender tripped one of our attackers and Archie stepped up to drive the ball home for a winner.
