A very impressive team performance this morning produced an unexpected result against last seasons Div 3 champions, the team we finished runners up to.

We opened the scoring on 6mins when Eddie showed great pace, strength & composure to hold off a defender and slot the ball past the keeper. Highworth gradually got foothold in the game and equaliised on 17mins, however this was just a minor blip as we hit what can only be described as a purple patch, on 26mins Eddie restored our lead with a wonderful individual goal, he jinked past 3 defenders before striking the ball past a helpless keeper from 25 yards, Luca finished off a great team move with a neat finish after a fine cross from Matthew on 30mins, after 36mins the crowd erupted when Charlie with a text book header scored our 4th, the whole team celebrated with him, this moment sums up the fantastic team spirit in the squad. Not to be outdone James also popped up to grab the 5th with a brave header. 5-1 at halftime.

The guys were reminded during the break that there was still 40mins to go and that the game wasn't won yet. They appeared to take this on board because after 43mins James scored an excellent volley from a Jake cross. The intesity understandably dropped a little and this allowed Highworth to score a very good headed 2nd goal after 53mins, but again we took it on the chin and within a minute hit straight back with Eddie grabbing his hatrick with a cracking strike from at least 25 yards, we then entered a period of terrific possesion play as the team played some great football, the scoring wasn't finished though as Matthew capped a fine display with a very composed finish as he went round the keeper on 73mins. Luca scored the final goal on 76mins and this summed up the whole performance as it was yet again a wonderful strike from outside the box.

A terrific team performance, this is now the benchmark for you all to strive for in every game.
