Season 15/16 - Under 13 White

Every now and again a game goes like a dream and reminds you why you do what you do......

The lads continued their very good habit this year of ripping into teams from the start and finishing the chances that come their way. Pewsey were no mugs at all and will be in the top bracket of the league. They remained dangerous throughout and played good football - they just couldnt compete with our front 5 (Jacob/Louie/Jay/Archie/Joe P) who were in irresistible form.

Before I list the scorers we need to commend the rest of the team who provided the platform for this win. Our keepers Max and Sam both kept clean sheets until we started messing about at the end of the game. Our defence of Reece, Felix, Joe Gempton and Cameron were incredible covering miles & tackling everything that moved. I have to mention Cameron again - this was his first ever game, thrown into a high standard game - he was amazing. He will be an asset for years to come.

Archie got his almost customary header from a corner and followed that up with another great finish from another Louie corner. Later he was to complete his hat trick with a 20 yard howitzer, controversially, as everyone apart from the ref thought there was a handball offence just before. You have to play to the whistle..... Louie hit a corker from the same spot and scored the goal of the game when a brilliant move ended with Jacob unselfishly squaring the ball for him to roll the ball in. Max forced a defender to slice the ball into his own net and just got a touch before it rolled over the line. Jacob got the goal his play so deserved and Joe P also scored a great goal to round off a great performance which just shaded the man of the match award (on a day when any player could have been given it).

I need to say a BIG thank you to the parents as well. On a day when we had 6 players out - some of whoms parents usually help me on match days - you all stepped up and helped me massively. This is one huge reason why this club is just a brilliant place to be - THANKS.
