Season 15/16 - Under 15

A fantastic game of football was witnessed this morning by 2 teams trying to play the 'right' way, but were seriously hindered by the very poor pitch at YK. Lambourn started very well and were quicker and sharper than us. It wasn't long before their good play was rewarded with goals, 4 to be precise, we huffed and puffed but found it difficult to pass to a black & white shirt. 4-0 at halftime, some choice words were required at halftime in the hope we would respond and salvage some pride. Right from the kick off we looked a more hungry team and started to compete and win the second ball. Eddie scored our first with a very good direct free kick from just outside the box, game on, James scored a lovely text book header from a Dan cross to reduce the deficit. we had the momentum and looked like we could score at anytime. Against the run of play Lambourn won a corner and scored with a free header, after working so hard to get back in the game this was a bit sloppy and maybe a lot of teams would have dropped their heads and given up, but not us, we kept pressing and pushing forward, at this time we switched to a 3-4-3 formation and got our reward for being positive with 2 goals in quick succession from the impressive Jamie and a calm finish from Luca. Time was running out but we still had time to score an equaliser with just 5 mins remaining, a bit of a goalmouth scramble with James getting the final touch, unfortunately a whole hearted 50-50 challenge involving James resulted in both players getting hurt and James, as a precaution, going to hospital to have his leg examined, hopefully its not too serious and we all wish him a speedy recovery.

Man of the match: James - inspirational display from central midfield, dragged us back into the game.

Next game: Wanborough at home on Sunday 3rd April, 10am kick off
