Season 15/16 - Under 13 White

A great game where only two WORLD class saves by the best keeper Ive ever seen at this level kept us from a deserved 3 points. Obviously a goalkeeper is a player the same as everyone else, so him doing his job well means that our opponents also deserved something from the game.

A stuttering start by both teams ended with us in the acsendency - this period of the game saw Archie sticking a penalty firmly in the corner of the onion bag. He later told me how nervous he was as he tried to see the tiny goal behind the massive keeper! So plaudits go to him for that.

We had played uphill and against the wind in this first half and turned around at 1-0 - surely the hard work had been done? Nope - Tetburys other two outstanding players (CF & CB) started exerting their influence, and we handed them a goal by giving into confusion rather than shouting for the ball on one of their long range free kicks. They then scored a good second to take the lead!

You cannot question the will to win with our players though and with Alex bravely limping on, we started to take back the initiative. After Archie had set up Louie for our equaliser - he absolutely whelted a fullbodied volley into the top corner only for the keeper to repeat his heroics of the first half when he similarly clawed out a Louie shot - and tipped it over. Everbody had a moment in this game - Teds surging run and cross in the first half, Joe's creative short passes, Bens clearing header off the line, several saves from Max, the determination of JJ and Felix, Camerons fantastic sliding tackles and pacy runs and Jacobs man of the match performance winning 50 tackles in the match. Well done guys.

I said at the end of the game to their coaches - 'WHO is that keeper?'. They replied jokingly - 'He had to be that good! Going forward, you are the best attacking team in the league and its a great test to play you'. Nuff said.
