There were six different names on the scoresheet as the Whites moved into the second round of the North Wilts League Cup at the expense of Liden Community Green.
The Colts proved too strong for their Division 3 hosts despite delivering a performance that was marred by a degree of complacency, manifesting itself in positional indiscipline and some shaky defensive play.
The outcome was seldom in doubt once Matthew opened the scoring with a goal that would have graced any fixture, curling home from outside the box with the aid of the far post. George slotted home number two before Liden pulled one back in some style and then gave the Colts a couple of anxious moments as they chased an equaliser down the slope.
Tom, Matthew and George added further goals to the Colts’ tally before the break, however. Liden responded early in the second half but Callum helped himself to a double and George completed his hat-trick, with Toby’s solo effort and a popular late strike from Brandon H rounding off the victory.
With positional rotation the order of the day, Luke VDB, Bradley, Liam F and Luke S all did their share of defensive work but all four were denied by the home keeper as they looked to open their respective accounts for the season.
