NWL U11: CCCFC v Fairford Town Print
Season 16/17 - Under 11

Fairford1

Great attitude boys from the second quarter onwards.  Team sprit was definitely apparent yet again. When we decide to apply ourselves like I know we can our results will always be a positive one.
Collectively as a whole we battled and pushed ourselves to fight back. Just a personal note to make, we can't always afford to start our matches slowly. Let's try and impose our play from kick off.
A Great build up play led us to attack Fairford inside their own penalty area forcing them to make a last ditched tackle resulting in Fairford bringing down one of our players.
Joel stepped up and converted the penalty. After that goal CCCFC finally woke up and we began attacking Fairford frequently, creating high number of opportunities. Joel grab his second and what a goal it was. He saw the keeper off his line, showed excellent vision and lobbed him nicely.
With our attacking play Fairford took their chance with a quick counter attack which they converted.
That didn't seem to knock our confidence and desire to play as we still had an attacking threat.  Our defence were hard to break down at times. Kwaku made challenges after challenges putting everything he could in front of the ball to avoid us conceding again.
The defensive shape was again good at times communications from the boys is improving.  What I liked seeing today was the boys helping their team mates out by supporting them with positioning and awareness.  Please keep this up.
Getting back to the match,Freddie showed great individual ability beating 2 or 3 players to score his goal.
Towards the last minutes of the game James found himself running through on goal just him and the keeper. There was only going to be one winner and James took his chance. We deserved something from the game and we battled well for the draw.
We Loved the attitude, desire, workrate and commitment to the cause from the 20th minute onwards.
Collectively, things to work on could be high pressure. Don't wait for our opponents to get the ball under control to make a pass. Force them into a mistake. Be stronger on the ball as well as making that quick pass at times.
I know all the boys didn't get an individual mention, but believe me when I say all of the players had a vital part in this match.  We managed to get a good result even if it wasn't our best display.  Things like these is a sign of champions. Let's start thinking like this as myself and Darren are confident you all can reach great heights if we all apply ourselves correctly.
LET'S GO AGAIN NEXT WEEK BOYS.
